Congress Programme Highlights
Digitalisation will be one of the main themes at OTWorld 2020. The congress will include numerous symposia and lectures that focus on digital concepts in prosthetics and orthotics and orthopaedic footwear technology, such as a symposium on digital design. Practical assistance is offered in courses such as "Digital workshop processes - the paperless workshop". Furthermore, we will also continue the successful guided exhibition tours for doctors.
Every day, respected experts will highlight their special field in informative and exciting keynote lectures. On the first day of the congress, Prof Dr Michael Deppe from the University of Münster will give a talk titled "Fake News - or how statistics can help you make more precise mistakes!”. The next day will be followed by Prof Michael Goldfarb's lecture "Trends in lower limb prosthetics research: Enhancing adaptability through powered and semi-powered devices”. Prof Goldfarb teaches at Vanderbilt University Medical Centre. The second to last day of the event, Prof Dr Sami Haddadin from the Technical University of Munich will speak on the topic of "Intelligent control and learning in prosthetics”. Raúl Aguayo-Krauthausen from Sozialhelden e.V. will bring the keynotes to a close with his lecture "Participation, Accessibility and Inclusion“.
The new congress formats should above all address the challenges of the near future. The increased emphasis on the international and interdisciplinary nature of healthcare is reflected in the "Global interdisciplinary leaders", where international best practice examples of optimal care provided by a healthcare team are presented. Topics include arm prosthetics, scoliosis and club-foot treatment. At the specialist workshops on "Materials 2025 - Material Science in Prosthetics & Orthotics", participants will focus on the materials of the future.
Also new at OTWorld is the TAR Conference (Technically Assisted Rehabilitation), which takes place from 14 to 15 May 2020 parallel to OTWorld and is the European forum for the presentation and discussion of the latest technical innovations in modern rehabilitation. It is a unique meeting place for visitors and speakers from research and industry who want to network internationally . By attending OTWorld, trade visitors can gain a comprehensive overview of technical progress in the field of rehabilitation support technologies.
Trade Show Programme Highlights
The integrated congress and exhibition concept is one of the cornerstones of OTWorld. The congress centre is built directly into the exhibition halls, so that trade visitors with a congress ticket can switch between the trade show and congress at any time. The complete trade show programme is available here.
To date, 77 exhibitor workshops have already been announced - a key subject of interest here too is digitalisation, with the focus on "New supply concepts in the age of digitalisation". For the second time, a lecture programme on the topic of "Digital Manufacturing" will be organised by the exhibitors in Hall 1. There will be presentations of new scanners, 3D printers, software solutions and materials. The best possible options for implementing digital processes in the workshop will be presented.
In 2020, the focus will also shift more strongly to the healthcare supplies shop. In addition to imparting professional know-how, the training programme "Forum Sanitätshaus", which focuses on optimal indication-based care, also takes into account topics such as process management in the healthcare supplies shop and integrated digitalisation - from internal and external communication to billing and logistics. Other topics in the area of care competence include the increased demands placed on sales personnel. First contact with the customer means that in-depth specialist knowledge and a pronounced advisory competence are becoming increasingly important.
OTWorld visitors have been able to gain practical insights into the multifaceted benefits of rehabilitation technology at the Technical Forum for Rehabilitation since 2012. The importance of interaction within the care team forms a fundamental part of this year's theme: "People with Cerebral Palsy". Cerebral palsy (CP) is the term used to describe movement disorders caused by early childhood brain damage. In the Technical Forum for Rehabilitation, different phases of a CP patient's life, and therefore the different medical aids he or she needs from childhood to adulthood, are to be presented as a route through life with the respective care spectrum at individual stations. The Technical Forum for Rehabilitation in 2020 will be organised in cooperation with the concept partner rehaKIND e.V..
Against a backdrop of rapid technological progress and the growing importance of ongoing training and further education in the field of prosthetics and orthotics, the new "Forum Bildung" (Education Forum) will present education and advanced training initiatives in the P&O sector from around the world.
The International Trade Show and World Congress OTWorld targets orthopaedic technicians, orthopaedic shoemakers, rehabilitation technicians, therapists and doctors, engineers, the medical trade and insurance companies' employees with a unique range of products and services.
