DreamHack Leipzig 2020: The Gaming Community Is on Fire

Join in the excitement, play along and feel the experience - on Friday, DreamHack Leipzig will open its doors and once again become the ultimate festival for gamers aged 12+. A packed program is waiting, with even more highlights than previous years. Eight first-class Esports tournaments with seven-figures of prize money will be held over three days. At DreamExpo, exhibitors and product presentations go hand in hand with spectacular gaming events. Germany's largest LAN party will once again exceed its reputation and has grown for the fourth time in a row.

"This year DreamHack Leipzig is setting new records. Never before has there been such a wide variety of prestigious Esports tournaments and such large prize amounts. Even DreamExpo and Germany's largest LAN party have grown yet again. For the community, this year's gaming festival will be one of the undisputed highlights in 2020," says Markus Geisenberger, Managing Director of Leipziger Messe.

Esports tournaments: International elite players and aspiring amateurs will compete for a seven-figure prize pool.

"DreamLeague Season 13: The Leipzig Major" is by far the biggest and most prestigious Esports tournament ever held at DreamHack Leipzig. 16 elite Dota2 teams from Europe, America and Asia are competing against one another for a purse of $1,000,000. German players Max "qojqva" Bröcker (Team Liquid), Adrian "Fata" Trinks (Alliance) as well as Kuro "KuroKy" Salehi Takhasomi and Roman "rmN-" Paley (Nigma) will have home field advantage. The group phase has been running since last Saturday at the Congress Center Leipzig (CCL). The remaining eight teams will battle it out on Friday in Hall 4 for the tournament championship.

After a three year hiatus, the return of the DreamHack Open in CS:GO turns dreams into reality for the DreamHack-Leipzig community. Eight international elite teams will be competing against each other from Friday to Sunday for $100,000 in prize money. The German team BIG, who fought their way to the final at DreamHack Leipzig 2017, as a newly formed underdog team, is particularly motivated. Another German team, Sprout, will be joining the race to the finish.

In Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege Clash of Nations tournament, four teams will battle it out for the title of GSA Champion and a prize of € 30,000. The best teams from Germany, Austria and Switzerland were determined through qualification tournaments in the run-up to the event. The fourth competitor will be decided on Friday at Germany's largest LAN party. DreamHack Leipzig co-organizer XMG and the publisher Ubisoft are hosting the tournament. "We are very excited about how well DreamHack Leipzig has developed into a major gathering place for the continuously growing gaming community. This year, we are joining forces for the first time with Ubisoft, one of the world's largest games publishers, to organize our own tournament. But of course we will also be showing our current product highlights, such as the slim gaming laptop XMG FUSION 15, which has recently won numerous awards from the trade press," explains Robert Schenker, Managing Director of Schenker Technologies / XMG.

But that is not all: Five other tournaments are waiting for festival visitors. In the Farming Simulator League tournament, fields will be competitively harvested, Uniliga will seek out the best student teams in League of Legends and Rocket League, the European Smash Circuit will pit players against each other with characters from the Nintendo universe, and the eSports Bund Deutschland (ESBD) will host the final of its League of Legends club cup for the second time at DreamHack Leipzig, and the City of Leipzig's football association eSports will be crowning the first ever Leipzig FIFA Champion.

DreamExpo: Test, Try, and Have Fun

The DreamExpo is much more than "just" an exhibition area. The participating companies will not only be presenting their latest products, but will also be holding numerous events and campaigns of their own at their stands. In partnership with Logitech, AMD and Xbox, the Samsung stand will be packed with action. Tournaments will be held daily at 24 gaming stations in the Battle Royal shooter, PlayerUnknown's Battleground (PUBG). Beginners and advanced players can use the Coaching Area, where pros will be giving helpful tips and tricks on PUBG as well as stream their games. There will be four Xbox game stations where you can take a break from the hustle and bustle of the fair and enjoy seamless gameplay in HDR quality on the latest TV sets such as the Samsung GQ55Q70RGT. The recently announced Samsung Portable SSD T7 Touch will also be launched to a European audience for the first time in Leipzig.

For the first time LG will be in attendance with a DreamExpo booth. There, festival visitors can try out the company's many different gaming monitors and its other offers. Three LG Gaming Monitors will be raffled off at the Expo booth over the course of the festival weekend. As primary sponsor of Eintracht Frankfurt's E-sports team, the company is also expecting the club's FIFA professionals at its stand on Saturday. Festival visitors will be able to compete with them on-site in a "Beat the Pro" competition and find out if they have what it takes to be a pro.

Also making their debut is the SAP Esports Showcase, which brings the game Dota 2 live to visitors. In an interactive 3D model, game scenarios will be projected onto a Dota 2 map. Here, visitors can view specific scenes as highlight plays or follow and analyze an entire game. In addition, with the "Last Hit Trainer" Dota 2 fans try their hand at the game as well as test their skills in the competition mode complete with a leaderboard. The SAP technology will also allow them to analyze their performance and show exactly where they can improve.

At the Indie Arena Booth from Supercrowd, visitors will have the opportunity to get to know and test 27 new games from indie developers on over 500 square meters. In cooperation with the Verband Games & XR Mitteldeutschland, there will be a separate area for Central German game developers for the first time this year. This gives visitors the opportunity to meet local developers and experience the diversity of the local gaming scene. The local heroes from Leipzig, Infection Games, Glaucus Games, Haiki Game Company, RobotHeart Lab, RPGames and lalalab are among the participants. The games presented range from action multiplayer and survival horror to adventure games, trading card games, VR and music games.

For hardware fans the DreamStore is one of the highlights of the DreamHack Leipzig. Caseking will host the DreamStore for the first time this year. On 300 square meters, Caseking will offer a huge range of PC systems, gaming keyboards, mice, headsets, gaming chairs, cables, power supplies, monitors, CPU coolers, streaming equipment, graphics cards and so much more - and some of these will even be available at discounts of up to 50 percent!

Packed Schedule On All Three Days of the Festival

On the second day of the festival one of the most popular events will take place: the Cosplay Contest. 30 popular game characters will be brought to life and create a magical gaming atmosphere. But that's not all - a replica of the Darkmoon Faire from World of Warcraft offers visitors the opportunity to play the well-known mini-games from the MMORPG classic. In the Cosplay Area there is also the possibility to play the online card game Hearthstone with real cards and to take photos with the cosplayers.

In the StreamArea a total of 27 popular German Twitch and YouTube streamers will gather to report live on their channels from DreamHack Leipzig. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet their favorite streamers in the "Meet & Greet" area and talk to their idols. NoWay4uSir, DieHahn, DiZee, mukkayo and Kimuh to name but a few. Knoppers Nussriegel, Gillette, WD_BLACK and Predator will be sponsors of the Stream Area, and are fully equipping the event with their latest technology and products.

After last year's extremely successful premiere, the International German Casemod Championship (DCMM) will return to DreamHack Leipzig and transform conventional hardware into impressive pieces of art. In addition to the six established categories, the best artists from the casemodding scene will compete in three new ones. This year visitors can also try their hand at casemodding under the guidance of the professionals.

Germany's Largest LAN Party: Three Days of Solid Gaming

DreamHack Leipzig is once again Germany's largest LAN party - and it has grown once again. An all-time record number of 2,080 gamers from all over Germany and neighboring countries will descend on the Leipzig Trade Fair for three days to play with and against one another. The majority of the participants travel as clans - with the largest clan comprising over 70 players. Players can still secure starting places for the LAN Rainbow Six Siege Clash of Nations and the Farming Simulator League in the DreamExpo. There are also a number of official LAN tournaments with attractive prizes.

General information on age restrictions: Access to the LAN is possible for visitors 18+, and the DreamExpo is available to visitors 12+. Events that take place in the exclusive area for those 16+ are marked accordingly on the DreamHack-Leipzig website.
