Globally Networked: OTWorld.connect 2020 will be held exclusively online from 27 to 29 October
The virtual World Congress will be held, with over 250 confirmed speakers and presentations from 20+ countries, along with digital presentations on industry innovations
The OTWorld.connect 2020 trade show and world congress will be held online from 27 to 29 October. After intensive discussions with representatives of the exhibitor advisory board and the programme committee, the German Association of Orthopaedic Technology (BIV-OT) as the conceptual sponsor and Leipziger Messe as the organiser have jointly decided today to hold OTWorld.connect from 27 - 29 October 2020 exclusively as a digital event.
From the very beginning of the Covid 19 crisis, OTWorld's team has been developing an innovative new event concept in response to the pandemic. A hybrid format was developed, which provides digital offers, but could integrate a reduced on-site event: the OTWorld.connect. A hygiene concept approved by the authorities was developed by Leipziger Messe for the presence event.
"In light of travel warnings, quarantine regulations and further local lockdowns, uncertainty was increasing worldwide. It was essential to create secure conditions for exhibitors and visitors from the more than 100 countries who meet every two years in Leipzig to exchange ideas and experiences. Given this situation, all those involved have therefore decided by mutual agreement to concentrate on the digital event and to forego the presence event," explains Martin Buhl-Wagner, Managing Director of Leipziger Messe. "Beyond the decision to offer the event exclusively in a digital format, we also took the opportunity to integrate various pilot projects. This allows us and the industry to test and further develop future-oriented formats together. Last but not least, digital transformation means understanding each event as a test laboratory for innovations. With OTWorld.connect we are setting a new course - together. We are excited about our digital visitors to OTWorld.connect," Buhl-Wagner continues.
From 27 - 29 October OTWorld.connect will offer opportunities for continuing education and knowledge exchange. As planned, the scientific congress programme will be digitally presented - in German and English. More than 250 participants from over 20 countries are invited to an interactive exchange of ideas.
The new political forum for the industry will discuss current topics with its high-profile participants and will also be presented in an online version. The congress will be accompanied by the presentation of innovations from the industry - via workshops in the congress and in innovative digital showrooms. Simultaneously to OTWorld.connect the 7th European TAR Conference (Technically Assisted Rehabilitation) will take place on 28 and 29 October. This European forum focuses on the discussion and presentation of the latest technical innovations in modern rehabilitation. Starting at the end of August 2020, the final programme can be found on the event homepage: www.ot-world.com
With this digital programme OTWorld.connect offers the industry a platform for continued education and exchange, also during a pandemic. "At times like these, the professional exchange between experts and decision-makers at the national and international level must be sustained. Health care concepts must be updated in times of limited contact and the need for innovation is therefore increased. At the same time, supply chains could become unstable," stresses Alf Reuter, President of the German Association of Orthopaedic Technology. "I am grateful therefore that our partner, the Leipziger Messe, has developed a concept, OTWorld.connect, which lends itself to the different scenarios found in a pandemic. Now a completely virtual meeting is possible for us", stresses Reuter.
The International Trade Show and World Congress OTWorld targets orthopaedic technicians, orthopaedic shoemakers, rehabilitation technicians, therapists and doctors, engineers, the medical trade and insurance companies' employees with a unique range of products and services. In 2018, OTWorld attracted 21,400 visitors from over 90 countries and 570 exhibitors from 43 nations. The World Congress had 320 speakers from 32 countries. OTWorld's conceptual partner is the German Association of Orthopaedic Technology. The owner of the OTWorld brand and organiser of the congress is Confairmed GmbH. The Leipziger Messe GmbH is responsible for the trade show.
