Press release from 6/18/20 | The Company

Leipziger Messe opens the doors with approved hygiene concept – Trade fairs and congresses in 2020 will take place

Effective immediately, Saxony is the first federal state to once again permit trade fairs and congresses / Planning reliability for exhibitors, partners, guest organisers and visitors

Leipziger Messe is again organising trade fairs and congresses. After several months of suspension as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Leipzig Messe Group of Companies is now actively planning to hold around 100 own and guest events by the end of 2020. This is a result of the Corona Protection Ordinance of 3 June 2020 issued by the Saxon state government, which expressly permits trade fairs and congresses with an approved hygiene concept. The Leipziger Messe has now developed one that has been examined and approved by the responsible health authority of the city of Leipzig.

Martin Buhl-Wagner, Managing Director and Spokesman of Leipziger Messe: "Saxony has acted decisively and responsibly: The Free State of Saxony is the first federal state to make trade fairs and congresses possible again. We can resume work and give our exhibitors and customers certainty in planning: Your event will take place."

Markus Geisenberger, Managing Director of Leipziger Messe: "The approval of our hygiene concept is a big step forward. The health and safety of our exhibitors, visitors, customers and employees remains our top priority. Let's not forget: If anyone can carry out larger events under the strictest hygienic standards, it is trade fair and congress organisers."

Saxony's decision has rippling effects. The Leipziger Messe events have a purchasing power of 656 million euros and generate benefits for hotels, restaurants, exhibition stand builders, public transport, and taxi companies as well as thousands of jobs.

    The Leipziger Messe Hygiene Concept

The crucial issue for the safe execution of all events is determining the number of visitors. For this purpose, Leipziger Messe has developed a directive that has been approved by the City of Leipzig's public health department. This allows flexible control of visitor numbers and gives exhibitors and customers certainty in planning.

The Leipziger Messe hygiene concept focuses on three core requirements: maintaining a distance of 1.5 metres, complying with hygiene standards and controlling the flow of visitors in order to avoid the crowding of people. Visitors receive their ticket in advance and in a digital form via the ticket shop. As part of the online ticket purchase, attendees will be registered to ensure any necessary contact tracing. Attendees will find extensive protective measures in the exhibition halls.

Certainty in Planning for Guest Events and Exhibitors

With the approved hygiene concept, exhibitors, partners and guest organisers now have certainty in planning once again. Our detailed information material provides information on the hygienic safety measures and provides instructions for stand construction and catering. They will be the model for all guest events.

CADEAUX and MIDORA Open the Autumn Trade Fair Season

CADEAUX and MIDORA from 5 to 7 September are the first trade fairs to be held in Leipzig under the new hygiene concept following the outbreak of the corona pandemic. They are also the first-ever industry events for consumer goods in Germany. Numerous companies, including several new exhibitors, have already registered for the trade fair for gifts and lifestyle trends. The CADEAUX gives the green light for a series of own and guest events, which will follow: https://www.leipziger-messe.com/event-calendar

The Congress Center Leipzig will also host the annual conference of the German Society of Phlebology from 2 to 5 September.
