Hygiene Concept for the Protection of Trade Fair and Congress Participants

Leipziger Messe is once again holding events with an approved hygiene concept

This is enabled by the Corona Protection Ordinance and the current General Decree on the Enforcement of the Infection Protection Act issued by the Saxon State Government, permitting trade fairs and congresses to be held under an approved hygiene concept.

Due to the rapid development of the corona pandemic, additional measures for events ("traffic light regulation") are required for areas with an increased incidence of infection. In this event, this will entail corresponding adjustments to our hygiene measures.

We are in constant communication with the responsible health authorities and maintain close contact with our exhibitors and partners.

An overview of currently planned events or possible alternative dates can be found at https://www.leipziger-messe.com/event-calendar

    The Protective Measures

    At the exhibition grounds

    • Hand disinfectant dispensers are available throughout the Leipziger Messe exhibition grounds. You will find them at the entrance and exit areas as well as inside and in front of the toilets. There are signs indicating how to use the device.
    • Restrooms, contact surfaces and objects will be cleaned and disinfected more frequently. cleaning quality is checked regularly.
    • Contactless payment is possible in many areas, including trade fair restaurants and bistros. Most cash registers are equipped with EC/credit card terminals.
    • The halls are equipped with very efficient ventilation systems, which will be set to deliver an increased volume of fresh air. This enables constant exchange of air in the exhibition halls.
    • All counters on the exhibition grounds where employees and participants congregate (including the Press Centre, tills, Exhibition Shop, information counters) are equipped with transparent partition walls made of glass or plastic.
    • For the construction and operation of the exhibition stands, hygiene regulations will be in place in addition to the technical guidelines.
    • The employees of Leipziger Messe participate regularly in training courses. A risk assessment based on the SARS-CoV-2 occupational safety standards has been carried out for all employees.
    • Schedules for service and security personnel are individually adapted for each event. Our staff are taking active steps to ensure that the distance rules are observed.
    • Leipziger Messe will appoint a coordinating team for each event to monitor and check the measures in place.
    • Exhibitors can find a summary of our measures as well as more detailed information on stand construction and stand catering on our websites.

    2. While visiting the exhibition grounds

    • In order to enforce the minimum distance rule of 1.5 m and to prevent unwanted queuing, we will use floor markings and implement appropriate structural and organisational measures to provide guidance and direction. This applies in particular to service facilities (cashier counters, cloakrooms, catering facilities) and entrance areas.
    • Organisational measures will be put in place to avoid overcrowding in certain areas. There will be separate entrances and exits. The main exhibition aisles will be expanded to a minimum width of 4 m. The use of the lifts will be restricted. This enables participants to comply with the distance rules and move freely.
    • As minimum distance requirements cannot be fulfilled in the existing restrooms, the maximum number of people will be limited. Wearing a protective face mask is mandatory. Paper towels will be provided.
    • All measures to be taken on the exhibition grounds will be frequently signposted in a suitable form (including posters, notices, flyers, loudspeaker announcements). The guidelines are based on the recommendations of the Robert Koch Institute and the Federal Centre for Health Education. They are clear and concise.
    • For lectures, the distances between the chairs will be increased in order to maintain a minimum distance of 1.5 m between visitors. In general, the number of visitors in a room may not exceed the number of seats available.
    • Persons suspected of having COVID-19 and/or they have entered the country from an identified risk area within the last 14 days are not allowed to enter.
    • Should a suspected COVID-19 case occur during the exhibition isolation care is possible. Medical staff are prepared to deal with suspected cases.

    3. Registration for the fair

    • The number of visitors present at the same time is limited and is determined in advance for each event to ensure that the minimum distance of 1.5 m can be maintained.
    • Visitors, exhibitors and service providers will be informed in advance of the event about the necessary hygiene measures as well as the participant limits.
    • Visitors will only receive their ticket in advance and online via our ticket shop. This avoids queues at the cash registers. If necessary, tickets with allocated time slots can also be issued.
    • We are required to register all visitors, exhibitors, media representatives, VIPs, and stand builders. In connection with the purchase of Online Tickets, surnames, first names, e-mail addresses and telephone numbers will be collected. During ticket checks at the entrance, entry and exit times will be recorded. This enables those present at the same time to be contacted for follow-up in the event of a possible infection.

    4. For travel to and from the fair

    • Events are announced in advance to the transport companies so that they can plan service intervals and vehicle deployment.
    • Together with the public transport system, there is a close coordination of the routing between the station and the entrance areas.
    • If you are arriving by car, please have the parking fee ready.

    5. For catering at the fair

    • The Corona Protection Ordinance of 3 June 2020 and the General Decree on the Enforcement of the Infection Protection Act of 4 June 2020 by the Saxon State Government also apply to trade fair restaurants, bistros, catering, etc.
    • In accordance with the relevant regulations, catering facilities are therefore provided with their own hygiene concept. We will comply with the solutions already established for the catering trade.
    • Physical separation between the catering services as well as the provision of to-go services ensures compliance with the applicable rules.
    • Service personnel will wear protective masks. Transparent partitions made of glass or plastic will be used for display areas.
    • Disinfection options will also be offered in the catering area.
    • The technical guidelines for Leipziger Messe GmbH will remain valid and unchanged.
    • Exhibitors can find a summary of our measures as well as more detailed information on stand catering here.
